Here is the latest.... Yesterday Berkeley got into a bottle of Ibuprofen and had to be rushed to the vet. She was placed on IV fluids, and got charcoal into her stomach to help absorb the NSAID. She is also receiving medications to help protect her gut from ulcers. Berkeley spent all yesterday and all night at the Vet and is there all day today. The three most problematic factors of dogs that ingest Ibuprofen is 1. Gut issues 2. Kidney Issues 3. Neurological issues. They are also following two different kidney labs.... 1. BUN (hers have been normal) and 2. Creatinine (hers was slightly elevated). This morning her labs look similar to what they looked like yesterday. We were hoping that they would go down however the Vets are happy they didn't go up. The Vet is thinking about letting her come home tonight because she is her perky self and is urinating a lot (a good sign of kidney function). We would then bring her back in the am for another round of labs.
We miss our puppy dog but know that she is in good hands at Carver Lake Vet. I will let everyone know as I know more.
Thanks for thinking of us. Here is a photo of her from yesterday. Poor Berkeley, she HATES that cone on her head.
