After dinner one night we went on an adventures and stumbled upon Cascade Falls. We walked down ~100 stairs to the bottom. Nathan and Benjamin were in HEAVEN throwing rocks into the water and daddy thought it was pretty cool that you could walk behind the falls.
Auntie Christine's Parents invited us to a summer festival at their church in Amery. They had all their fire trucks, a bounce house, food and a band. It was pretty cool.... plus we got to spend some time with our future in laws... thanks Mark and Deb!!!
Camping was on our list of summer activities and we just couldn't fit it in this summer so we decided to camp out at the cabin. The boys thought it was fabulous to sleep outside by the campfire. We all went to bed about 930... and slept until 730 the next morning... its probably the best night of sleep that Brent and I have had all summer. It was so nice to be all snuggled together and wake up to the beautiful lake! Nathan just snuggled in his sleeping bag... looking at the lake. It was so cute!
There is a beautiful state trail that runs along the lake. I had never been on it so we headed out to burn some extra energy. We had a nature hunt complete with leaves, sticks, yellow flowers, white flowers, sand, rocks, ferns and finally wild blackberries! We spent some time walking/playing on the beach along the way. As we were headed back I spotted the berries... they were delicious! We picked at least a pint. The boys thought it was pretty cool... just like Sal (from blueberries for Sal!). We went home and put our yummy black berries on vanilla ice cream! Nothing better!
"You have toddlers... in a BAR!"
We decided to head into town to watch the Vikings preseason game. Of course the only thing in downtown Osceolla is a bar.... so we hung out with our 3 year olds (in a bar), eating greasy food ... they thought it was GREAT!
We had a few mishaps during our time at the cabin.... hopefully we will still be invited back!
We had a toilet that almost over flowed!!!
We spent 3 hours in a boat with 3 year olds so ... we had to make a few pit stops!
Nathan inadvertently locked himself in one of the bedrooms... so Brent took the handle off. At first he was scared but quickly got over it once he realised he had his very own peep hole!
We also got locked out of the cabin and had to pop the screen out of the back door.... and Nathan pulled to towel rack down in one of the bathrooms. To top it off 5 minutes before we were leaving the cabin Nathan and Ben were chasing after each other and a balloon... Nathan took a head dive into the door frame... I thought fore sure we were headed for the ER... luckily a band aid seemed to work and the bleeding stopped.... note to self... carry steri strips! :)
I so miss these two sharing a room... at they cabin they slept together and loved it. We found them all snuggled together this night... They are truly each others best friends and partners in crime. What a week filled with adventure! More to come....
